One
end of a very large workshop just as it was becoming vacant in 2005.

Typical
worshop mess.

In 2007
Alex and Debbie partitioned one end and concreted a small(ish) section
of floor ready for it to be used as a shop. It became vacant again
in December 2010. It would now be a perfect home for the 7VSG.

So in
March 2011 we started work concreting a section of floor behind
the partition ready for the stage and performer's dressing rooms.
Sorry, no photos of the work being done but a huge thank you to
Bob and Trish for the concreting and lots of other help too.

We decided
to cut a rectangular section out of the existing partition and move
it back 2.4 mtrs to acommodate a portable stage very kindly donated
to the club by Patrick and Sue. Here's Bob being serious - you should
see him when he's having a laugh!

Here
you can see the cut-out section having been moved back and the stage
sides constructed. Bob, helped by Alex, is fixing the stage roof
joists. These are now covered with fireproof ceiling boards. As
is the main part of the room too.

One
big breezeblock wall was a bit grotty to say the least. So we dry
lined it with exterior grade OSB. No idea at all what the metalwork
bolted to the wall is, but it will come in handy for making the
mixing booth roof solid. Also note the fireproof ceiling that was
put in when the shop took over the room.

Nearly
there with the big OSB sheets.

The
stage is now in and decorating started.

The
bar is built and tables set out as a trial. We think the room will
seat 45 people and still allow room for buffet tables and dancing.
We are looking out for some nice curtains.
Later this year we will install a dance floor and carpet the remaining
floor space.

Note
the inner porch we made so that the big sliding door can be left
partially open when the room is in use. Also ramp for wheelchair
access.

Here
is the disco/mixing booth with security window and strong locking
door.

At our 60s/70s theme night in July 2011 we found that the bar just
wasn't big enough to allow two people to serve without getting in
each other's way. So we enlarged it!
